What NOT to Buy for a Baby Shower July 17, 2009

Take this one off your list:

Johnson's Moisture Care Gift Set

Skin Deep gave Johnson’s Moisture Care Gift Set a shocking 9 out of 10 on the toxicity scale. It’s no wonder, when many of Johnson’s baby products come with the warning, “Keep Out of Reach of Children.” Hmmmm…

Of course, children shouldn’t be playing all alone with lotion or any other personal care product. But, a product should really be safe enough to ingest if it’s being used on a child’s largest organ (the skin).

Ooh, one more product just because it’s so ridiculous:  Johnson’s Baby Cologne.

OMG. This is actually cologne for babies.

Seriously? Cologne for babies? Does it come with grease to slick back your infant’s hair and a large, gold pinky ring? Here’s the ingredient label for this one (Skin Deep scored it a “6”):

Ingredients
Water, Polysorbate 20, Trideceth-9, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Simethicone, Ext. Violet 2, Blue 1

And the warning label is a bit concerning (who doesn’t have allergies in the family?):

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use without consulting a doctor if your child has asthma or allergies or if there is a family history of either. Serious breathing problems could occur. Keep in a cool place protected from direct sunlight.

Visit the “Baby Care” section of Skin Deep to find safer products to give as gifts or for your own little one (look for the products with the green bubble next to them).

Much love 🙂 Create a beautiful weekend!

    great article!!

  2. Jenny Says:

How come they can sell this stuff if it’s so toxic?

  3. Hannah Says:

A 9! OMG. This shouldn’t be bottled. I wouldn’t use it on myself let alone someone else. I make all my own bath products (except shampoo and cond). It’s easy and healthy!

  4. Good evening .
I have something to say, about aloe Vera, something about which you wrote above, about health and cosmetics… For a long time, I and my good friend use the products of the forever living products. We usually see the good results and also we earn money for our families and we are happy. My friend works with aloe vera in the company of flp has more than 5 years (My friend works ONLY in the flp company and has a wife and three children). I know AloeVera products for weight management for a long time, but a year ago, began working as a distributor in the forever living.
Of course, job is not easy, but in no other case, You can earn so much much money with so much fun and good smiling faces around.
So if you want to discuss something about your post, and about my experience with aloe Vera products for weight loss, I’ll always be glad to talk.

Best regards from Seattle and have a nice day!
